Continuing the thread on ToI quality and unilateral coverage, I found this email that my friend sent to ToI Editor around the time Mr. Vajpeyee’s knee surgery (2000) was being extensively covered by Times Of India. Everything from polls to greetings to teaching knee joint mechanisms was done by ToI. Here is the actual email.

Dear Sir-

I’m glad to see that your web edition is covering, step-by-step, the
knee surgery that is to be performed on our beloved prime minister.

While you are at it, may I suggest including details about my
grandfather’s hip surgery. My grandfather is a self-made man, freedom
fighter, and a true patriot. Surely he deserves all the attention and
coverage that your esteemed paper bestows.

I’ll be glad to forward you all the details. Please let me know when.
